Know God
The sacraments give us the opportunity to reveal ourselves to God, and for him to reveal himself to us. Too often we avoid getting to know God.
Ordinary Lives Extraordinary Mission
I have mixed feelings about confession. Those feelings being: fear but also joy.
In the Catholic faith we are blessed to have Reconciliation as one of the seven sacraments.
- Baptism
- Reconciliation (confession)
- Eucharist (communion)
- Confirmation (confirmed in the faith)
- Marriage
- Holy Orders (priesthood)
- Anointing of the sick
Sacraments: 1, 4, 5 (depending on the situation) and 6 can be received only once. Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Anointing of the sick however can be received, and should be received over and over. Especially Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation.
How often do we take these sacraments for granted?
Here we live in a country where we are free to practice our faith and have these sacraments at are finger tips. Meaning there is daily mass, their is the opportunity to go to confession every Saturday, and when we are sick or for those who are dying there is a priest who will do the anointing.
But do we take for granted our baptism? Or being confirmed in Christ? How about one's vocation, whether it be to the religious life or married life?
These seven sacraments are gifts from God. Given to us so that we may grow closer to Him.
I mentioned above about confession how hard yet beautiful this sacrament is.
Wanting perfection I find it extremely difficult to voice my sins to the priest. However once I do it, it is the best feeling! I am filled with joy and gratitude. The Lord's mercy is endless. And I am blessed to receive the sacrament of our Father's merciful love.
Through these sacraments we are healed. Amen?
Don't avoid getting to know God. He is waiting for you.
Run to Him, and do so through the sacraments.
