Holy Thursday

I am disheartened that we are not gathering together for Holy Thursday.

(Or, Good Friday, Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday...)

I am sad we will not receive the Eucharist on the night He gave us the Eucharist.

I can't help but feeling frustrated.

I want a traditional Triduum and Easter.

And I want to be excited about Easter, but I know COVID-19 will be there the next day.

Triduum is supposed to remind us of Christ's death and prepare us for His Resurrection.

Unfortunately this virus has only reminded us of death.

This is the night of the Last Supper.

No one believed there would be a Resurrection

There was frustration and betrayal.

They didn't gather together, they hid.

Jesus was alone.

So He understands our frustration and He knows our pain.

Jesus conquers death.

He invites us to hope in the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, but also, to hope in Him everyday.

Death is still to come but new life follows.

“Time is made for dying in a thousand ways, so why be afraid of dying when a kind of dying could come all the time? Live every day like you're terminal. Because you are. Live every day like your soul is eternal. Because it is.”
