Be Still and Know

"But there comes a time when the emptiness of our minds and souls is a gift of God. For as long as our spirits are filled with a God constructed from our images and words there is no room for a God who goes beyond all our words. Be content, however puzzled and uncomfortable you may be, to remain in the presence of God, lovingly attentive, your mind so quiet, so unoccupied, that it will seem you are doing nothing, that you are idling, waisting your time. Quieting our busy, distracted souls, is no small achievement, no small gift. "Be still and know that I am God.""
Fear Not the Night, John of the Cross

This is the time and there is an emptiness.

An emptiness that we search to fill ourselves.

But God tells us to be still.

"Lord, teach me to know you and to know myself." St. Augustine

I need the presence of God, the stillness of God.

Quarantine is an opportunity to stop the busy, accept the uncomfortable and to quietly listen for His voice.

"Life is too deep for words, so don't try to describe it, just live it." C.S. Lewis
