Today we celebrate the feast of St. Maximilian Kolbe.
St. Maximilian was a Polish Catholic, Franciscan friar, writer and martyr.
He was a prisoner in the Nazi Communist Camp and took the place of a prisoner chosen to be killed.
Maximilian means the greatest.
He was a powerhouse saint on earth!
We too are called to be great.
"That night, I asked the Mother of God what was to become of me, a Child of Faith. Then she came to me holding two crowns, one white, the other red. She asked me if I was willing to accept either of these crowns. The white one meant that I should persevere in purity, and the red that I should become a martyr. I said that I would accept them both."
St. Maximilian Kolbe
We are offered similar crowns.
Will we persevere and become greater at what is asked of us?
"Let us remember that love lives through sacrifices and is nourished by giving."
St. Maximilian Kolbe
"For Jesus Christ I am prepared to suffer still more."
St. Maximilian Kolbe
