Embody the Cross

"He had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him."
Isaiah 53:2

He was a nobody.

Yet, He was somebody, who would save the world.

"The body Jesus inhabited was made. He designed His own human suit. He constructed its cellular respiration, metabolic reactions, and biochemical energy, knowing how each of these complex systems would respond to His voluntary deprivation. Jesus was experiencing physiologically what He'd designed supernaturally. He set heavenly perfection aside and surrendered Himself to physical depletion."
The Chosen, 40 Days with Jesus

He took on our suffering.

"There is no cross to bear that Christ has not already born for us, and does not now bear with us." Pope St. John Paul II

Jesus's body, given up for you and for me.

"If you wish to bear only "reasonable" crosses. then perfection is not for you." St. Theresa of Avila

“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

"There is nothing more pleasing to God, than to see a soul who patiently and serenely bears whatever crosses it is sent." St. Alphonsus Liguori

Set aside perfection and surrender like Jesus did.

"If you help someone carry his or her cross, you'll find out how light yours is. Your perspective will change." Chris Stepien
