"I thirst."

Mother Teresa speaks of Jesus thirsting on the cross.

Yet he turns his face from the wine they offered him as he hung there.

"I thirst" is more than saying "I love you." It's Jesus telling us he thirsts for us.

Mother Teresa understood in her heart what Jesus was saying and so she fulfilled the call by being Christ like to those who were (too) thirsting for him. Even in her years of darkness she still continued her work to bring souls to Jesus.

Mother Teresa plainly puts it that suffering is a gift. She said her darkness was a gift to do more for Jesus.

"For the first time in this 11 years -- I have come to love the darkness. --For I believe now that it is a part, a very, very small part of Jesus' darkness and pain on the earth."

Our suffering links us to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. What could be more beautiful?

Jesus on the cross.... his head bent down -- to kiss us. His hands reached out -- to embrace us. His heart opened wide -- to receive us.

Yes, he is thirsting for us. Will we go to Him?
