Modest is Hottest

“Immodest and attractive is easy. Modest and repulsive is easy too. But modest and attractive is an art form.”
― Douglas Wilson, 5 Paths to the Love of Your Life: Defining Your Dating Style

Huge challenge this time of year as girls choose prom dresses and summer clothes come out! Douglas is right. Immodest is easy. Repulsive is easy. Modest and attractive is ART!

Stole this from my mother's facebook wall.

When one thinks of it, our fashion today and what is "in" is typically not modest.

Girls walk around in shorts barely covering there butts. Hence the title butt shorts.

Then there are women who wear tops with out any top to them at all. Cleavage is NOT attractive.

At prom these days girls don't have sleeves on their dresses. No, not even spaghetti straps. The more skin the better. I've seen dresses with cut out slits in the middle of the dress. These ladies are wearing unfinished dresses. Exposing anything and everything to everyone. Not a good look.

Why? Why is walking around with everything showing that shouldn't be showing not a good look?

Because A. it looks desperate. B. it looks trashy.. And C. it just shows that one is not confident in being fully clothed.

I've mentioned prom dresses and now I am going to bring up the topic of swimsuits.

Oh boy...

Ladies, you're simply skinny dipping. SHAME ON YOU! The little piece of cloth you're wearing is not covering anything. How can you swim in that? You're paying for a "swim suit" that is barely noticed because everything else is being stared at. The money you're paying is like paying for your skin. BECAUSE THAT'S ALL THAT IS BEING SEEN!

Good heavens! If only the women of this world could feel confident in their skin,  but with clothes ON!

Sadly most women do not have any self confidence and they dress to impress. Well the impression that is given when strutting around in nothing but strings and see through material is not a good impression at all. It implies that they do not see themselves as a daughter of the King. It implies that they are living for approval of others instead of their Father. It states that they do not see themselves as worthy.

The more girls dress immodestly the more likely guys are going to treat them like an item instead of a person.

You're not only hurting yourself but those around you. Leading men into impure thoughts and exposing children as well as giving other women the right to ridicule you.

Now one may be thinking while reading this that a "little skin" is no big deal. That it's your body, you can dress how you want. You're not wearing a top too low, or shorts that short, your prom dress covers just about everything. I'm not here to convince you. I'm blogging to stir the pot. Make people think.

Guys, you may think I am only talking about women here. No. I'm including you too. It's your job as brothers, fathers, husbands and boy friends to stand up and remind women of their worth. Do your part!

Modesty IS an Art. Anyone can walk out of their house half naked. But can everyone clothe themselves with humility and poise? One does not have to wear sack cloths and ashes but thought and effort certainly will do the body justice.

Dress to impress. Not to impress man but the One who created your body.

She is clothed with strength and dignity. Proverbs 31:25

Dress like you care

I love this. It is a good thing to think about. Sooo... would you? Comment! :) I think I would. I truly believe that I dress in a way that doesn't cause boys/men to stumble and that would make the Lord proud.

Modesty Guidelines, for my bridesmaids picking out their own dresses! I'll give them this, a color pallette, and a specific length!

YES!
