Keep Making Me

Keep Making Me by Sidewalk Prophets
Make me broken
So I can be healed
‘Cause I’m so calloused
And now I can’t feel
I want to run to You
With heart wide open
Make me broken

Make me empty
So I can be filled
‘Cause I’m still holding
Onto my will
And I’m completed
When you are with me
Make me empty

‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making me

Make me lonely
So I can be Yours
‘Til I want no one
More than You, Lord
‘Cause in the darkness
I know You will hold me
Make me lonely

‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making me

These lyrics, especially the first stanza, make me broken, I have been singing repeatedly in my head. You and I both know people connect, relate to brokenness. I am not sure if I ever shared my story about the crucifix, but if I have, forgive me for making you listen to it again.
At our parish St. Mary's, our crucifix was in the back of church instead of above the altar where the risen statue of Jesus was.
I brought my intention to the parish council concerning and wishing to see the crucifix moved from the back of church. My longing being to see the suffering and crucified Jesus who is relatable.
Needless to say the parish council agreed and my heart is full of gratitude.
Nothing against risen Jesus. But like I said, broken souls can turn to Jesus on the cross and know He understands.
Often I wonder if that's why I am not fully healed. We need broken people in this world to remind us of the suffering Jesus went through to heal & save us.
Lord, make me broken.
Another part of the song I didn't hear before was, make me lonely
Loneliness is a cross too. One we all carry. I've recently read and come to understand that there is a hole, a desire in each of us that belongs only to God. Yet, we try and fill it with other pleasures of  things, people, and anything other than God. But only will our hearts be satisfied when we fill this loneliness with God.
Lord, make me lonely.
Make me Yours
‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making me
