Love first

Matthew 7:3-5

Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
It all goes back to comparing; which brings us to judging. And who am I to judge?
Matthew 7:1
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged."
However we are all guilty of looking for the bad in others when we should be looking for the good.
"When you start looking at people's hearts instead of their face, life becomes clear."
We look for perfection, though not one of ourselves is perfect. We think the answer is to correct people by pointing and shaking our heads. Doing this we only make things worse.
So what is it that we should do?
We CANNOT save them. Jesus, already did that.
But...We can love them.
Lord, I ask you to help me to look at myself before I look at others. To become a better me before I expect so much of others. To love myself so that I may love others. I ask you to help me remove all that is keeping me from loving and sharing your love with others.
Amen.
