Great Silence

Great minds discuss ideas;

Average minds discuss events;

Small minds discuss people.

- Eleanor Roosevelt

Which category are you?

Better yet, which category do you want to be in?

We live in a world where all people do is talk about each other.

We write about people in magazines, sing about people in songs, use the internet to talk about people, gossip about people and judge people. We are using our abilities of words and actions to fill the silence but not in the way we should.

We may try and talk of events but people attend those events therefore they are brought into the discussion.

Our small average minds are stuck. We are caught in a cycle of "discussing" people and it is all we know how to do. We are afraid of silence. The awkward still moment between self and another person. We'll say anything to break that silence.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's discuss something more, something great. Let's discuss our ideas.

Stop saying the first thing on your mind. Quit talking about the first person you see. Share your dreams and your ideas to make a difference in the world.

It takes effort, humility, courage, and endurance. It takes prayer.

This I pray,

To accept the silence, not fill the silence. To build others up, and to talk only of their goodness. To love when it's hardest to love. To be noble and gracious. To listen rather than to speak. To be kind. To encourage others as well as to smile. Smile when their is silence and smile when their is none. Above all rejoice in His goodness. Amen.
