College Kids

School is going to be starting up before we know it.

College kids are headed back or beginning a new chapter in their lives.

There are also the young adults, who've graduated from college, living their lives, trying to live simply and simply live.

But something is missing, rather Someone is missing from their lives.

Bluntly speaking these new chapters filled with partying, drinking, being hungover, too tired, too overworked, too much to do, is replacing a real need for the same person missing from each guilty persons' lives.

Jesus. Where is he on the college campus? Off the college campus? In the apartments? In jobs? In studies? In relationships? In choices?

The answer is He is there, but why is He being placed on the back burner?

Again, I am being blunt, and speaking, well, not from experience of a college lifestyle, but I am trying to wake our young adult generation up!

Just as the party life is available to you, so is the choice to put Jesus in the center of your lives.

Go to weekend Mass!

Missing weekend Mass is a mortal sin and Jesus wants us to receive Him into our hearts. Go to confession before receiving Jesus if you've missed mass.

Go to confession!

Fr. Mike says, "Confession is not you asking, "Jesus, give me another chance", it's Jesus asking us, "Give Me another chance".

The priest is not there to judge. Jesus is there to forgive and to love.

Befriend the Priest and community of your local church.

Get involved, most college towns and big towns have young adult groups that go to mass and make the sacraments together and do fun things like Theology on Tap, pizza after Saturday night mass, and encourage one another to become their best selves. Having a priest for a friend or spiritual director helps with focusing on the importance of life.

We make time for things that are important to us. Why not make time for the One who is truly important in us?

Stop making excuses with tests, work, poor choices, tiredness, sloth, "church isn't for me".

Give Jesus a chance to make a difference. Give Jesus a chance to be the difference!
