Marsh-mall-oh saints

Confession of least favorite thing in the entire world is anything and everything sticky
Syrup especially, mainly because I drank a half a gallon as a child. *Feeling nauseous.*

As you continue to read you'll see the marshmallow comparison I have written down.

Marshmallows are sticky, but if you stick them on a graham, which I can't eat, because I am gluten free, but no one even like the graham crackers just the chocolate, anyway they're not so sticky.
Anyway what I am trying to get at is, I am not a big mallow fan either. Unless they're charred and can be catapulted into my mouth...mess free.

However the reason I do love marshmallows, (hate love relationship, people) is because of the way my five year old cousin Dominic LOVES and says the word, "marsh-mall-ohs" so adorably!
You can't help but love marshmallows after that, even if they're sticky and messy and make
"Dom go crazy" in the words of Sam.
Moving on...

"If your character and that of those around you were soft and sweet like marshmallows, you would never become a saint."
-St. Josemaria Escriva

We tend to wish everything was gum drops and lollipops (or marshmallows) but after reading this quote,
I realize there would be no desire to become a saint. No ambition to strive toward holiness.
Through our suffering and the not so soft and sweet days, we are called to work towards heaven by offering what isn't sweet, and soft and marshmallow like.
We are called to be saints.

How do we accomplish becoming saints?
By example.

You'll never be a leader if you see others only as stepping-stone to get ahead. You'll be a leader if you are ambitious for the salvation of all souls. You can't live with your back turned on everyone; you have to be eager to make others happy.
-St. Josemaria Escriva

Example of leadership isn't dictatorship.

Leadership is the fine art of going out of one's way and doing the selfless thing for others.
The thing that will bring others joy.

So let your 'yes' mean 'yes' and your 'no' mean 'no'.
-Matthew 5:37

But do all things with love in your heart.
Even when things get sticky or things don't go according to plan.

We must be eager to to make others happy, eager to become saints, eager to bring souls to Jesus.

Be a kind and joyous saint in a marshmallow world?
