The Little Flower

We celebrate the life of St. Therese the Little Flower on this beautiful feast today!

I admit that I had never been a huge fan of hers. Gasp! * I didn't just say that. *
(That'll cost me some purgatory time.. ;)

Everyone else LOVES her! Why didn't I?

Let me expand on that... she comes across as perfect. I guess most saints do...

However I just couldn't connect with her. Like I said above I thought she was perfect and in a sense unreal.

But then one day I decided I want. I choose to fall in love with this saint!

So I opened my heart and broadened my view of The Little Flower.

It's no surprise that my attitude toward her was changed.

I read a beautiful book from my soon to be sister through the sisters of Life (Lizzy Schmidt) called The Way of Trust and Love. It's pages of quotes and quotes being broken down that are from St. Therese herself.

What I connect with the most with the Little Flower though is the "Little Way."

What is the Little Way?

"It is the way of spiritual childhood, the way of trust and absolute self surrender." -quoted shortly before her death.

St. Therese wasn't perfect. She felt like a failure. But she was real though.

She lived the little way faithfully and set a humbling example for all of us by doing so.

"When I am weak then I am strong." (2 Cor 12:10)

St. Therese the Little Flower, pray for us!

O St. Therese the Little Flower,
Please pick me a rose from the heavenly garden and send it to me with a message of love.
Ask God to grant me the favor I now thee implore and tell Him I'll love Him each day more and more.
Amen.
