"Ora et labora" - pray and work!  

Today we celebrate St. Benedict's feast day!

"What, dear brothers, is more delightful than the voice of the Lord calling to us? Saint Benedict   

St. Benedict dedicated his life to monastic life through prayer and work for Christ.

“Whatever good work you begin to do, beg of God with most earnest prayer to perfect it.”

St. Benedict is the founder of the Benedictines. 

“He should first show them in deeds rather than words all that is good and holy.” 

― Saint Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict

He is the Patron Saint of Europe, Kidney Disease, Monks, Poisoning and School children.

“Almighty God, give me wisdom to perceive You, intelligence to understand You, diligence to seek You, patience to wait for You, eyes to behold You, a heart to meditate upon You and life to proclaim You, through the power of the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”
